Who are we
The Upper Stoney Lake Association is a community group dating back as early as 1896. Our landmark Sunset Pavilion has served as one of our key community gathering places for generations of lake traditions. Our volunteers from 300+ member families work year-round to protect the lake and strengthen our community through environmental stewardship, boating safety programs, community events, and youth activities. We are reintroducing a regular program of children’s crafting activities in addition to concurrent free play outdoor activities.
Who we are looking for
Any age 16+
Capability and patience to teach or assist kids 8 and up in crafting activities
Experience working with children is an asset
First Aid certification
Able to work without supervision and with minimal direction
Interest and ability to instruct children in creative crafting activities
Strong decision-making skills
Previous experience volunteering for USLC events is preferable
Current family membership in Upper Stoney Lake Association (USLA)
What we are looking for
Help us achieve our goal of making a positive impact on our community by coordinating kids’ crafting activities and setting up outdoor self-directed activities for kids of USLA member families. Two afternoons each week throughout July & August we will provide a drop-in 2-hour crafting session for USLA member families hosted in our historic Sunset Pavilion. You can decide what the crafts will be and you will collaborate with the Activities Director to determine a slate of suitable and attainable crafts for children who may represent a range of skill levels. Materials will be provided or reimbursed by USLA.
Additionally, you will set out items for outdoor games such as volleyball/badminton net, cornhole, horseshoes, etc to participate in self-directed, unsupervised play during the same 2-hour window as crafting, and return them to storage at the end of each shift. These items are provided by USLA.
Are we a fit?
Do you feel a strong connection to this role? Will you be in attendance at Stoney Lake throughout July and August? If so, apply by below with a letter (use form below to enter or send letter/resume) outlining your experiences and education specifically as they relate to this role description. Please email Jamieson at Activities@USLA.ca if you have any questions!
Deadline to apply: May 8, 2026
